About the Internship
At Melody Music Therapy’s university affiliated internship program, you can expect to engage in music therapy experiences with folks across the lifespan in a variety of settings. You will collaborate with your supervisors in weekly+ supervision spaces to debrief/process sessions, practice clinical music skills, and engage in reflexive conversations on important topics related to the building of your therapeutic self including authenticity, boundaries, reflexivity, and so much more. You will work with many different MMT music therapists with varied backgrounds such as person centered, neurodiversity affirming, and trauma informed approaches.
About the Spaces
Who will I work with: Private practice working with IDD/neurodivergent folks (children and adults), older adults, community-based group programs, and mental health
Where will I work: Columbia-based office, memory care/assisted living facilities, and in-home sessions throughout central MD (primarily Howard, Montgomery, Anne Arundel Counties)
What can I expect: strengthening your clinical skills by working with a wide variety of populations, regular supervision meetings, clinical musicianship lessons, helping to organize MMT events such as recitals, community music groups, etc., an intern stipend, and learning all the ins and outs of private practice
